Handicap Information

The purpose of the USGA Handicap System is to make the game of golf more enjoyable by enabling players of differing abilities to compete on an equitable basis.  Some of the advantages of having a handicap are it allows golfers to participate in more events (those that require a handicap index), have a measurable means of tracking improvement, and allows score adjustments to even the playing field when playing with golfers of different skill levels.

The Central CT Chapter offers two ways to obtain a Handicap Index.

  • All EWGA members have the opportunity to obtain an official USGA Handicap Index through the EWGA Handicap System (GN21) at no additional cost!  This system is powered by GolfNet and is a full featured system that enables all members to obtain an official USGA Handicap.  This system is free to all EWGA members!  You can enter scores under the “Handicap” section on the left hand column of the members area of the EWGA website.  EWGA Handicap link
  • For our Central CT chapter members that want to renew and/or obtain their handicap index through GHIN, we have an agreement with Lyman Orchards who will administer our GHIN index’s for only $28 + a $2 processing fee for the 2016-2017 year.  The normal price at most golf clubs is $50 or more, so this is a real advantage for our chapter members.

  • Please complete registration before March 25, 2017
